Super 1 Foods Run!

Phew, it's been quite an eventful day so far for me!  For starters, my alarm didn't go off, so getting up an hour late makes for "running around like a chicken with my head off" type of morning.  (Don't ya love those?)  After scurrying around I get the three kids out the door (on time, thank you very much!)  About 5 minutes before we get to school, my 5 year old starts complaining of a tummy ache.  I half heartily listen, because she says this EVERY morning and she's fine.  I tell her I will walk her to her classroom today.  We get to the door of her class and she starts crying and clinging to my leg (again, not an unusual scene for her).  I am asking her what is wrong  - is it your tummy -  and she just keeps her head buried in my leg  with no answer.  I ended up staying with her for a while until she calmed down and finally thought she was ok enough to let me go.  

I zip down to Super 1 for the hot cereal sale and about half way through my shopping, my 3 year old says "My tummy hurts" . . . . .  oh for Pete's sake!   I ask her if she thinks she can make it until I get the rest of my things and pay . . . she says "Yes, I think so."   I'm checking out the oranges and I hear "MOM!" and she has her hand over her mouth and her eye are watering.  I fly over to the deli and grab a large soup cup and put it under her mouth just in the nick of time.  

Now, I have a cart full of groceries and a little girl holding a cup of puke!  But,  I am so thankful it wasn't all over her and the groceries.   

We managed to get through the checkout line without any further excitement. :)

I have been keeping track of Turkey prices for the last two years, it's interesting to me because I know (from talking to folks in the meat business) that most stores take a HUGE loss on the Turkeys.  They figure, if they give you a great deal on your bird, that you will most likely buy the rest of the groceries you need for the traditional feast at their store too, making this one of the most competive times of the year for the grocery business!

Here are this year's Turkey prices and comparisons to 2010 and 2009:

Albertsons:

2011: 
Farm Fresh Basted or Honeysucket White Frozen whole Turkeys (16 pound or larger), $0.31 cents/lb. or $0.41 cents per pound (under 16 pounds) with a minimum $50.00 purchase.  Additional Turkeys are regular retail price at $1.49/lb.
